Today, I'm going to share my experiences from our Honorable Prime Minister’s program, Pariksha Pe Charcha 2. I feel immense gratitude and joy, for getting the opportunity to participate in the program live at the nation’s capital. I thank the Principal, my class teacher and all my teachers for guiding me into the right path. This wouldn’t have been possible without them.
The program, which was held at Talkatora stadium in Delhi on 29th January, witnessed over 2000 students, parents, and teachers from all the states and union territories of India. The program was an interactive session with our Honorable Prime Ministerji talking about the exams and answering questions. And I’m here to convey the message he conveyed in the stadium on that day.
Whether we like it or not, the reality is, exams are just a mile away. And we may feel stressed. Many of us have the motto, “If not now, then when?” It’s good, but what our PMji says is that it should not be our only motto. Whenever you feel stressed about exams, think about it. Is it a test for your life, or the test for passing your grade? Once you are clear with the answer, you will feel the stress already reduced.
Never compare yourself with anyone- be it your best friend, friend, enemy, relative or whosoever. Every child has his or her own potential, and strengths, and most vital above all, their own dreams. It is important to realize yourself and follow your path. Be your own competitor. Try to beat your highest record.
Next comes one of the toughest aspects of exam season, fulfilling expectations. When it comes to expectations, our hon’ble PMji says that society should be aspirational, not negative. If people have expectations in you, that means they believe you. And trust me, earning trust is difficult these days. You must do your best to make yourselves capable but must not get bogged down by expectations. Rather, you must take them positively.
Once you are all set to destroy the stress monster, next comes the biggest demon of all, “Distractions.” Most of us use technology today to enhance our revision methodologies. While doing so, we get carried away by notifications, and before we realize, we find ourselves procrastinating online. People getting addicted to online games is not new, but it is quite alarming as we approach the exam season. When this topic was posed as a question, PMji immediately asked if it was PUBG. “Ye online game PUBG wala hai kya?”. The whole stadium was amazed by how much he knows about today’s generation. PMji replied that he is very glad that the younger generation is getting acquainted with the latest technology. But, he said, technology should lead to the expansion of mind in the means of innovation, not addiction.
On the row, we have goal setting next. Some of us set huge dreams and dream of it. Some have smaller but continuous goals, for which they strive hard to complete. Aiming big in life is good, but don’t get carried away by it that your dreams become dreams, and one fine day you’ll be old and still dream of it. It is also equally important to have smaller accomplishments that are easy to reach.
Now, talking about the test itself. If the test is tough, you somehow manage to get through it. When you think about the toughness again, think about what made you pass, not mere luck. Think about your qualities that helped you, and plan to improvise them. Similarly, in an exam, though scoring marks are essential, you must focus on enlarging your knowledge and understanding the subject. If you do this, automatically your scores would be taken care of.
One thing that is most important for all of us is time management. Time is our own, and we decide what to do with our time and how to get things done. That is totally in your control. We all have the same 24 hours. But those who manage their time well set themselves apart. You must prioritize from time to time. People who master the art of time management, they seem to go through life effortlessly. Time management is very essential. If we have 10 things to do, sometimes we need to know which are the 6 or 7 that need priority" says our PMji. And last but not least, our Prime Minister also reminded that learning should not be reduced for exams only, our education must equip us to face various challenges in our life too.
