The fundamental element of nature

The variety in nature’s production has always fascinated me. From creating things to support us, humans, to creating us to support its cycle; if there’s an organism with multiple working facets, that would be nature. We living organisms may be diverse in our structure and functioning, but there is more than the ‘urge to survive’ that keeps us connected.   “Care” – often underrated, tricky to interpret and hard to withhold. “To care for the fellow being”, is fundamental of our nature, of the living. Spanning across nature’s creations, this single trait appears to have been cut and pasted in almost every living being. Recently, a four-pawed occupant of our community had given birth to two beautiful kittens. Since last week, she has been training them how to hunt for food and escape from speeding vehicles. My indoor cycling expedition happened to be their experimenting apparatus once, and that’s when I got to witness this greatness. The way the cat trained her kittens, - directive...

Playing Imposter

A few days back,  on 12th January my friend and I decided to participate in an online quiz, conducted by Quiz clubs of Anna University, AcTech and IIT BHU. I saw the listing on Instagram, and since it did not talk about age restrictions, I registered our team. Little did we know, the quiz was meant for college students. We ended up being the only school team (cross-school, to be more precise.) And we succeeded in getting qualified for the finals. Though we didn't end up winning, we were ranked fourth out of the ten teams, and to both of us, it is a milestone. This is my first time participating in an all seniors game, and it was memorable. And kudos to the organising team as well. They were kind enough to let us play, and motivate us all along. The questions were mind-boggling, and we enjoyed it all along.  [For those who feel something's out of the picture, yes I did bunk a test that day. Didn't expect our team to make it to finals. But we did :) ] And why am I talking ...

Insights on my Board results

This is probably the most anticipated post of the year, of the last two years. Never have I done this lot of drafts for anything, nor have been asked about how this post is coming up. Either way, before I begin, this post is not going to be me bragging about my marks. Instead, I'll be analysing how and where things went right, how they could've been different. Personally, when I entered 10th grade, I dug up a lot of articles and videos on board exams survival, best study tips, but none of them provided an idea of what to expect. This post aims to give you a sneak-peek of the sea of possibilities you might encounter in tenth grade, basically what I wish I could've seen earlier. And it's going to be a long read. I got 97.4% in the board exam. Humanities subjects are not offered in South India, while in North you can opt Entrepreneurship, IT and other theory subjects for 10th boards. There are a lot of opportunities in the humanities stream. Most toppers from the North ...

21 things in 21 days

This is another kinda suggestive/tips post. Since we’re going to be in lockdown for another 21 days, here are 21 things that would be fun to do while you’re stuck in your house. But believe me, there’s no place like home, so enjoy every minute of the next 21 days! Day 1. Watch Kota factory                               Well, speaking of 21 days, the first thing I remembered was Jeetu Bhaiya. Kota factory is a five-episode series on Youtube, which follows the journey of IIT aspirants who live in Kota. It’s completely free and has English subtitles. Trust me, it’s worth a watch!      Day 2.   Clean your place                                 ...

10 Lessons 10th Grade taught me

This was supposed to come out earlier, but pardon me, holidays' brewing up my procrastination and I'm fighting it. Last Wednesday marked the official completion of my tenth grade. Two years in high school seems like two seconds of a distant vision. Putting all the emotions aside, I’d like to share what these two years had offered me. Mistakes, joy, memories, and sorrow, if you’re entering tenth grade or high school anytime soon, just keep these things in mind before you mentally start prepping yourself for it. 1.      Organization is your mantra                                 As tiresome as it sounds, this is something we all postpone till the last minute. Organize every last of your note, and those never-ending piles of papers and samples right from day 1! You’ll thank yourself for that later. And I do ag...

Unfurling self-care

Self-care, in short, and self-explanatory, is attending to the needs of the self. Whether you're a student, a professional, or basically if you're a human, you'll have the tendency to think about catering to your own needs. Now, this must not be misinterpreted with "selfishness." It is completely different from self-care. Self-care is simple when put forward as a theory, but is often overlooked when in practice. For instance, we have burnouts after a long drawn process of completing a task, but we don't consider the need to recover our mindset before actually moving on with the next project. The simple steps we take in the gap between the termination and inauguration of tasks is termed as self-care. Self-care is not recreation.  Most people, (I'm included as well) think of self-care as a recreational activity. But, self-care requires time, and not to forget, your brain's attention. It helps you to take off thoughts that have been accumulating in...

Why I want to be a writer pt 2

Pariskha Pe Charcha aired live yesterday. There was a short essay contest held before that, where each student had to write an essay on a topic of their choice. {there were five topics given.} I chose the one which involved talking about goals and aspirations, and here's my entry. Hope you like it! :) Originality is God's gift to every human being that he doesn't realize until a fine day. In the competitive world that we live in today, we pursue a career that would place us in a so-called' hot spot.' Attaining enlightenment today has come to mean following one's passion. I strongly believe in the phrase, ' A pen is mightier than a sword.' And that is why I want to pursue writing as my living cause. By 'Writer', I don't mean becoming the next Hemingway or Dickens. What I mean by a 'Writer' is that I want to create a paradise of my own, a place in history even the worst destitution can't destroy. 'Writing' to me is li...

Bitter Truths

Nature has a very peculiar way of teaching us its truths.  And those truths are really hard to swallow. I took a stroll in the tracks around my apartment. The climate was pleasant, and silence prevailed throughout the boundary. At one corner, I saw a small bird, sitting on the floor. The bird's color almost matched the ground, and one could hardly tell that it is there, alive. But, it was breathing, in a very calm way. It neither had wings nor were its legs visible. For two rounds, it was there, in the same position, with the same look in its eyes. And on my third round, the bird wasn't alive anymore. Either it must have been the cats, or a vehicle should have gone that way without noticing. I felt really uncomfortable looking at it. At the same time, I realized one thing, "Nothing in this world is permanent. If there's gonna be a beginning, there's gonna be an end."

June - update

Alright, keeping up with new year resolutions is hard. Hey there guys! I know I have been quite inactive and procrastinating. Let me tell you why that happened, and what you shouldn't do. It's only been a month, and this is what I learned from my monthly performance. I'm in my sophomore year. As most people would tell you, you must be very organized at the beginning of your school year. Being on top of your to-do lists, signing up for every single thing that comes to your way, and so on. But they won't tell you one major thing - organization differs from person to person. I tried being so organized this month. Mostly, June is my fav month, and I don't do anything serious at that time. But unfortunately, I found myself in a very hectic plan, and I hardly had time to breathe. And that's the time I realized one thing - you need to take time while figuring things. Participating in every opportunity can get you a good name at school, but that is not exactly ...

Escaping heat to get trapped in it

Hey guys! I know I have been inactive for the past month, and that's because my holidays had a packed schedule. But, I did have a break and I went out of the city, hoping I could beat the heat, but unfortunately, something unusual happened. Wanna know what it is? Stick till the end. To begin with, I was out of station for the past four days. We started on 28th, I guess, a road trip to a city that never sleeps. Yeah, you got me there! How is Madurai not that hot? Apparently, that was just the beginning. We reached Madurai by the end of the day, and the hotel we stayed at had spectacular decorations made of wood. And the food there was quite good too. The next day, we visited a few temples and the famous Madurai Nayakar Mahal. That palace was splendid! Now here's the interesting part. That day marked the end of the intense heat of summer. According to our myths, it had to rain all over Tamil Nadu. Though Chennai was quite unlucky, Madurai had about half an hour of mild r...

Pariksha Pe Charcha 2.0

Today, I'm going to share my experiences from our Honorable Prime Minister’s program, Pariksha Pe Charcha 2. I feel immense gratitude and joy, for getting the opportunity to participate in the program live at the nation’s capital. I thank the Principal, my class teacher and all my teachers for guiding me into the right path. This wouldn’t have been possible without them. The program, which was held at Talkatora stadium in Delhi on 29 th January, witnessed over 2000 students, parents, and teachers from all the states and union territories of India. The program was an interactive session with our Honorable Prime Ministerji talking about the exams and answering questions. And I’m here to convey the message he conveyed in the stadium on that day. Whether we like it or not, the reality is, exams are just a mile away. And we may feel stressed. Many of us have the motto, “If not now, then when?” It’s good, but what our PMji says is that it should not be our only motto. Whenever...

And the countdown begins!

It just seems like a blink of the eye, and i can't believe its December 31st. 2018 has been a different experience. In simpler words, i would call it, a multi flavored falooda. A year which made me realize that no matter how swift my school speeds, I will always remain a student, and a learner. The year kicked off in great spirits, and ends with a memorable vibe. I have completed this year by participating in my school's cultural recording today.  And, throughout the year, there have been both ups and downs, but everything has been fruitful. Detailed listing will be upnsoon! Stay tuned, as you join me in celebrating 100 posts in 2018!

Life lessons that I learnt in 2018

As 2018 is nearing its completion, I'm gonna rewind my memories to pick the best of them. And to do that, I need your help. Give me your suggestions and feedback to help me improve myself! I got inspired to write this by studywithjess. Jessica's YouTube channel is amazing, so make sure you guys check it out. Moving on, her recent video features the life lessons she learnt in 2018. Watching that, i wanted to list what i had faced im 2018 too. So i came up with a lost, which can seem pretty boring, yet had made huge changes this year. 1. Patience: No matter how far people push you, be patient and steady yourself. Because sometimes, it will reward you in quadruples! 2. Failure is not the end: I had a lot of successes in 2017-18 , but the proportion reduced to quarter this year. I had strengthened my existing weaknesses, but got new ones in their place. I'm sure I will do my best in 2019. 3. Be yourself: Everyone has their own dark sides which comes into light. Though we m...

Truth about my Science paper

School reopened last Friday. I received all my marks that day. My performance is not bad, but not satisfactory either. My worst performance is in science, which I've scored just 86%. It is time I open up on the reason behind this deterioration. First of all things, I wasn't prepared a hundred percent. I was still studying on the day before my exam, and I had a doubt over my preparation. Last minute preparation had never helped me, so I avoided that almost every time, but this time, it was unavoidable. Secondly, at my own risk, I wasn't expecting the paper to be so tough. Usually the paper would be a piece of cake and I would head out of the room triumphantly, but this time, I was glad that it was over. I had never hated exam time till that day, and that was because of my own procrastination. And lastly, I wrote most of the answers on the basis of assumption theory and forgot to prove it! I was able to assume the answers because I didn't miss the classes, but I couldn...

My new phone!!

I got a new phone recently. With some amazing offers at the Amazon Great Indian Festival. And, celebrating its one week anniversary, I'm going to describe my phone. The name's Redmi 6 Pro. The latest model which was released exclusively on Amazon. It comes with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels. It has 12 megapixels + 5 megapixels as the primary camera on the rear and 5 megapixel front shooter for selfies. The performance is really cool. It has dual sim technology, that accepts Nano Sim. Comparing it with my previous phone, the battery life stays for three to four days. (Of course, I barely use my phone for 3 hours on a school day.)  Gaming graphics is pretty amazing too. Although I had stopped playing games for a while, the graphics and the performance of the phone intrigued me. I now play Hogwarts mystery, which is non addictive, and doesn't require daily playing like clash of clans. It has the Oreo version of Android, which is pretty recent, I suppose. The la...

Strange luck...

This happened two days before... I was hurrying from my practice to the ground because it was already 4:25pm, and my van would arrive in any minute. I stood with my friends, gasping for air while a friend of mine borrowed my water bottle. When my van came, i grabbed my bottle tucked it into the side pocket of my bag and rushed towards it. In my rush, the bottle must have fallen down. I realized it after i sat in the van. Just before my van's departure, the bottle came flying through the window and landed on my lap. I couldn't even imagine who it was! It was definitely not my friend, or anyone I know. But he/she must know me, or at least that I had a black bottle. The next day, I tried to find who it was, but luck didn't favour me in that search. Whoever the person may be, this post is a huge Thank You to you!

Writer's Cafe!

Today, I went to phoenix mall with my dad. I don't usually pay much attention to the lounges there, but this cafe got my attention even before i was near it. I was taking a picture near the woman's sculpture when i saw a sign that read 'Writer's cafe', i wanted to have coffee there just for its name. (Previously, i was planning to head on to star bucks.) it had a couple of books, and the order table was decorated with images of many writers. even the tissue they gave with my cappuccino had a quote of Shakespeare and a small section to scribble notes. I felt like I could just stay there for the whole day.

Pre - shopping...

This is due last Sunday, but I'm posting this now due to some reasons. I had the best shopping experience ever on Saturday. Guess what, its not cosmetics or dresses, its 'BOOKS!' In May, I got a forward message via Whatsapp about the Lock the Box sale. It's a grand sale for three days where about 90000 pre - owned books are up for sale. The most interesting thing is, there are three boxes of different sizes and all you have to do is take your box and fill it up! I got a chance to visit the sale and do shopping. I was so glad when my school declared holiday then because it was second Saturday. I did buy a lot of books, I took the biggest box, the Hercules, which could fit about 30 books. I do wish I could've taken more books, but that's the biggest box they had. And as usual, I was over excited for the rest of the weekend. I never thought a weekend would be this perfect. Now, these books lay opposite to my school book shelf. And the very next school day, m...

Fun at the new lab!!

Recently, my school completed its 40th year. A few additions have been done to the campus. The major one was rebuilding labs and shifting them to a separate block. And today, my class went into the New Computer lab for the first time. This lab is three times bigger that our previous one, and it has a lot more computers. We are learning about Html this term. So, our objective for today was to create three webpages - one with your name and address, 2nd one with details of school. The third one is the real thing, something about yourself. You could write your name and hobby, or tell about yourself, or write something. And how many guesses on what I did? Before starting, I persuaded my tutor to teach me the tag that made the text to move. Then I did it. I typed "visit my blogs regularly" and gave the link. I tried to make the page more attractive and I ended up with something that fetched me a 10/10. The whole typing thing was fun, and the nicest moment came when a few oth...

'Hi'gh school!

I'm not even tall yet, but I'm in high school. This sounds weird, right? It's the first weekend of high school and I'm glad that consists of two days. I've now gone 'back to school' as a ninth-grader and this is how my first week went. This whole high school stuff is both exciting and boring. Exciting when it comes to be the seniors, to do new stuff, to have two gym classes. And boring when others tell you you have to take up more seriousness and be role models to the younger batches. The first three days of my ninth grade went really good, and I hope that'll be the same for the rest of the year. The most exciting part about a ninth grade is studying. They just teach you a section a day, and all you have to do is to read that and ask as many questions as possible. This is totally my thing! And I'm pretty much excited about math this year because I'll be taking it a bit seriously. I like all my teachers, and my class mates are great too. Bu...
