Today, we're going to focus on how technology impacts our health. In times like these, it is important to stay indoors, and also to take care of our health.
The most beautiful
thing about technology is that it can be both- a problem and a solution. It can
make wonders. If the man is the best creation of God, then technology is the best
creation of man. But if a man is the flaw of God’s creation, then technology will
be man’s worst mistake.
Apart from all the
other things that technology has not made our life better in, health is the
most important aspect that everyone should consider. I agree the invention in
medical technology has made our lives infinitely better. But when we talk about
day to day use of technology or “gadgets” to be more precise, it has become more
of a curse than a boon. The first major flaw that it has brought about in our
life is “Lack of Exercise.” When was the
last time you closed your laptop and went for a run? Probably on New Year’s
Day, to kick start that year’s resolutions. Do we choose an outdoor game over a
Netflix show during holidays? The real question is, are we updating our health
as we do our gadgets? If you ask me the same, my answer will be no too.
When we talk about a lack of exercise, we are rooting two outcomes.
The first one is being confined to one single place. Now, this doesn’t
have to be only physical. It can also mean that you are limiting your creativity
and imagination to a certain boundary. Already, we students are sitting for a solid 8 hours in school. If we are going to sit for hours in front
of a digital screen, how worse our health could become! The second problem is
obviously obesity. Obesity is no new word to this generation. These days, it
has been a matter of utmost worry than pimples and acne for teens.
What do we do? Do
we “Isolate ourselves from technology?” or “find a way to balance?” I’d choose
the second. The holidays are all about enjoying. So why not take the fun outside
too. Consider playing an outdoor game with your friend next time you plan for a
meet. (Not now)
So, try working out at home with the available materials. For instance, you can use filled water bottles as small dumbells, come up with stuff like that. There are a ton of videos out there on the internet that features working out at home. Start trying one of those. After all, we can't be couch potatoes forever, right?
