Hi guys, welcome back to my blog. I know I had posted that I'll blog continuously for the previous lockdown, but I had to take a much-needed break. Anyway, now that I'm back, I'll post regularly, and that starts today.
I started watching the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix earlier this month. And I was wondering, how did I miss such a wonderful series before. It has three seasons, and a total of 28 episodes. It is an adaptation of " Sabrina the Teenage witch," and is a dark coming-of-age, occult fiction. The titular character Sabrina, is a half-mortal, half-witch, a very unlikely lineage in a mysterious town of Greendale which had housed witches and mortals for ages. Season 1 revolves around Sabrina identifying her position in the two worlds, getting used to her dual nature. Season 2 is about Sabrina finally accepting the dominance of her witch nature, yet struggling not to give up her humane qualities. And season 3 is obviously not the end, it is about displaying Sabrina's will to protect the realms, her family, and her friends. And I won't go further, because then this post will be filled with spoilers.
All the actors, especially the leads and their closest ones were so natural that they made you feel like a part of the story. And for a genre which comes naturally with violence and thrills, this series is packed with an equal amount of humour and drama. The way the characters stand up for themselves, and for others, especially Sabrina when it comes to protecting the ones she love or standing up against authorities that defied equal rights and respect. The characterization of Sabrina and the way Kiernan Shipka portrays her is very admiring, inspiring, bold and cute. The screenplay doesn't deviate from the story, and it'll give you goosebumps, chills, emotions, laughs - all while keeping you hooked up to the story. It is intriguing, and hard to resist, in other words. The soundtrack is amazing. And one other thing which makes it different from any supernatural, magic-related series is that this is not a female version of Harry Potter.
So if you're wondering what to watch next, I'd suggest watching chilling adventures of Sabrina. Do keep in mind, though the makers have done an excellent job in making the series fit to all genres, the core has a little dark and scary theme, so it might give you extra chills. But still, give it a shot. And if you have watched it already, comment down your favourites from the show, and I'd love to share mine too.
