Work it- Review

I am definitely adding this to the best of 2020 list, because “Work it” has made a really good impact, and a remarkable impression. One thing I have noticed in all dance movies is that only people who already know how to dance take the spotlight, or the protagonists are somehow connected to dance. Ever seen a top-ranker or a bunch of nerds trying out for the dance team? You are in for a pleasant surprise.

 This movie focuses on dance, and perhaps only dance. The plot is simple. A top student takes up dancing because of unseen complications but ends up loving it. Backed up with killer performances by Sabrina Carpenter, Jordan Fisher and Lisa Koshy, this might be a perfect afternoon getaway in the middle of the week. If you were a die-hard team Kavinsky in "to all the boys", you might have a change of heart after watching this movie. It has humour, it has the beat, it has a passion and it has inspired. It feels like the movie has been created out of a passion to create more.

 Traditional dance movies leave out people who aren’t that much into dance. I believe that a film is successful only when it can be resonated with the audience of all types. Earlier this year, I watched the “Street Dancer 3D.” I agree it had killer moves and power cast, but it failed to make a change. You watch a movie instead of doing anything else (sleeping) when you are free. If there’s no takeaway piece from it, even the tiniest bit that can make your day more cheerful, you’re not the right audience for that movie, and that movie is not the right choice for you. Being a person who has a lot of inhibition towards dancing, I felt so out of place with street dancer 3d. But while watching work it, I felt my toes tapping along the beat. (Dance amateurs, this review is not for you, I know street dancer was a hit) Right now while I write this post, my fingers perfectly blend in with the beat of the songs.

 A high-school movie, but not your typical one. Ninety-three minutes of a different world. A perfect recipe to take a break from COVID. So, who’s watching it? Leave your views below. And remember, it is never too late to start something new!

Afterthoughts - YellowFace

 It took me a while to finish this book. Longer than I'd like to admit. Partly because engineering can get exhausting; sometimes all you want to do is sit still and stare into the void.
