2022 was one of the most decisive years of my life. I had to make choices that’d define my identity, learn to accept the difference between planned outcomes and reality, and ultimately, bid farewell to a life I’ve known for 15 years. While changes are good for you in the long term, they can be pretty hard to handle at a given moment. This post is a small recap of how my 2022 went.
We’ll start with the main event of the year - competitive exams. I cleared all the exams I attempted, and got accepted into almost every university I applied for. In some universities, I got my first preference and in some my second. I ultimately ended up in Chennai for various reasons, but I can safely say that this was the best decision I could have ever made, given the circumstances and options at hand.
Finishing school was bittersweet. From wishing we’d become adults faster to yearning for one more day as a kid, we’ve all had our epiphanies and euphoria. I’m glad that covid took a break for me to attend school offline for a while, else I’d have never gotten to experience how amazing senior year can be.
I’m officially a fresher now, majoring in Computer Science. The last few months have been amazing and fast. I’ve met new people, and reconnected with a lot of old ones. The amount of exposure you receive in college is huge, but at the same time slightly daunting, because everyone’s always doing something new and you can’t keep up unless there’s a conscious effort from your side. It’s been a wonderful ride so far.
